Apologies - I have searched for the answer to this but cant see the right thread...can someone help me?

I'm back from my first diving holiday with a camera - an Ixus 100 + Innon wide angle lens.

I have moved on from taking rubbish shots from poor to average ones, and have had lots of help improving from everyone I have dived with. Great fun.

I have one very specific question about white balance mode on this camera..

In order to "evaluate" white balance - is this done simply by part holding the shutter button when you are in manual white balance (program) mode, or do you have to go into the sub menu - Program - Manual White Balance -to configure - if so, do you then press the shutter with a slate or hand infront of the lens?

In other words if you turned the camera on, switched to program mode, what buttons need to be pressed to reevaluate the setting from the last time it was completed?

Thanks very much & Cannon Corner rocks!

Still after some help here if anyone knows the way this camera works...getting ready for Grenada trip next, so want to get the best shots of the Bianca C that I can...!

Way too late for your trip but manual WB is simple on it.

Go into program mode, go to white balance menu, cursor over to manual WB.

Then hold a white slate in front of camera and do as it says on the screen, ie press the "DISP" button. NOT the shutter button. That sets the WB. Then its the usual middle "OK" button to clear the menu. Job done, nice and simple.

Remember to do it every time you change depth etc and to turn it back to auto if you use flash.
