Ok, for those of you razzing me for lack of gear I just picked up a Mares, 2-piece semi-dry worn twice in my size for $150. Also, for another $150 she is going to sell, al 80 tank, reg, spg, Dacor bp/wing, fins, weights and belt, booties, hood, gloves... Ahhh, life is good...

Can't wait until Sunday!!!

Woo!

New toys are great :D

You mean we'll actually see you underwater this Sunday? ;) Sorry, Michele, I just couldn't resist!

It's great that you got your own gear, though! Congrats! Now you just need to pick up one more tank, and there will be nothing that can stop you!

Congratulations! You got yourself a heck of a good deal.

Just remember to get that stuff checked out, so you can feel confidant that it's all in good working order.

Unless I'm mistaken, there is no such thing as a Mares 2 piece semi-dry.

You might have a 2 piece Farmer John/Jane (and congrats - that really is a good price, regardless) but it won't be a semi-dry.

The Mares semi-dry is the Isotherm, which only comes in a one-piece configuration.

A two-piece semi-dry would be an oxy-moron - a semi dry has seals at the neck, ankles and wrists to keep the water out. Having two pieces defeats that purpose.

Congratulations.

Regardless of whether it is a wet suit or a semi-dry, you will probably be quite pleased with the Mares.

My cold water wetsuit is a 7mm Mares farmer john. It acts like a semi-dry in that it has seals of some type and doesn't flush much water.

Before I started diving dry, I used it at Folly Cove in the winter. It was cold, but it worked.

Only wimps get it checked out, Matt. Real divers hop in the water while diving solo at a new site and see what happens.

Just kidding.

I've seen a Bare wetsuit that has all the features that supposedly make the Isotherm a semi-dry. It had 3" bare neoprene seals at the cuffs, ankles, and neck, and a bare neo zipper flap that mated to the inside of the suit.

It was a two piece. I don't think it was sold as a semi-dry, but it seemed pretty darn nice to me.

It has neck and wrist seals. The neck seal is on the farmer jane, a weird config. You put your head through the neck seal that is connected to the back of the farmer jane and it zipps across the chest horizontally. Short sleeved, with zipperred ankles. Then the long sleeve shorty goes over, wrists have seals. THICK... THICK.. THICK...

It is a couple years old. The salesman told he it was a semi-dry when she bought it but she is someone that calls fins - flippers and her mask - goggles...
