Interesting programme on ITV at 8 pm tonight, looking at bad experiences on package holidays..
One part close to our hearts, was the programme makers sent an experienced dive instructor to Dahab, to investigate the safety standards of dive schools, mostly due to the rising incidents in Dive related holiday injuries. the instructor turned up pretending to be a "novice" with no Cert to guage how they would react to someone just turning up and asking to go diving. One particular school they mentioned (but i will not on here) had its Cert organisation licence withdrawn was still operating. Fundamental issues, did not cover off medical (voluntary or otherwise), told them to come back within a few hours and then took them for an intro. Did not cover the basics, like continual breathing, do not hold breath etc, and the undercover instructor pointed out they took her to deep for an intro (15 metres).. the UK undercover instructor was totally shocked at the standards, and at least the Certifying agency withdrew their blessing from them 5 years ago
Scarey to think there are operators out there that are willing to put people at risk for a few bucks....then again there are politicians :11: who would do if for less
Cheers
