Every year we turn our eyes to the Gulf of Mexico, and to the Atlantic Ocean between the west coast of Africa to the Florida Straits. Hurricane season 2008 is nearly upon us. Now is the time to think about stocking up on our water supply, canned foods, fresh batteries, that new generator, and all the other essentials we need to get us through another potential hit.
As the summer of 2005 taught us, you just never know when the fickle winds will roar with unbound fury or lapse away leaving only faint memories of the Weather Channel.
To all of us living along the Southeastern US, may we be once again blessed with an uneventful season so that we may continue still our recovery from those more memorable yet terrible seasons in the not-so-distant past.
