I run it in parachute mode. Set to 0.7 and manually add as necessary. I'll turn it to 1.1 if I need both hands for legitimate work like AAUS type diving but in a cave it's just in parachute mode.
Must be a cave thing. I'm an open water shipwreck type. After 13 years on a KISS Classic it took me 2 years to be able to just let the Meg do its' thing and not micro manage it during the dive. Life became easier once I let it do what it was built to do.

I've read your story too so I can only imagine that little gem in the back of your mind.
 
Parachute mode here, too. I also love Meg 15's dwell time setting. I set mine to 7 seconds - seem to be the optimal thing.

Also, I am trying to find out what "battery issues" mean on Meg 15, as reported in some first units. I've been running mine w/o any issues. The handset's battery level drops 10% in 2 hours starting from 100%. Things charge easily and the solenoid battery seems to be doing okay. What am I missing?
 
Mine dropped 10 to 15% in a matter of minutes couch diving. Even after a new replacement was installed.

Others noted that the head batteries would drain very quickly and they had to install in on off switch on the battery box inside the head. Making it so that you had to open the head to turn it on.

Some units the bus Network or something never shut off and kept running the entire time. It didn't affect them all.

I got frustrated quickly with it, the battery conditioning procedure didn't seem to work or make a difference. So I unloaded it actually to John Baker. There was other factors too.

Well, that's odd... ISC rebuilt the head about a year ago. I wasn't the owner at that time. I did notice that the handset battery took a few cycles to calibrate, but now it is good. My battery has an off-on switch. I turn it off - habits ;-)

Wouldn’t solenoids working at a lower (abs) IP need more power (longer opening duration or something to achieve the same mass flow rate)?
I’m just throwing random thoughts here, maybe one sticks to the right cause 🤷🏽‍♀️

Wouldn’t solenoids working at a lower (abs) IP need more power (longer opening duration or something to achieve the same mass flow rate)?

The battery in question is the handset battery, not the solenoid. The more I look at the Meg 15 architecture, the more I like it. But based on what I see and experience with some microelectronics, the second version would have been better had it happened.

Oppsie, can’t say anything about that battery

It’s one of the 1st units I thought about (keep hearing lot’s of great things); but it’s (currently) very inaccessible for me (I’m located /diving in Germany and Egypt), and overkill for my diving needs now
I’m already considering it among others for xover in the future (as my skills and diving plans get WAY more serious)

One of the supposed benefits over 2.7 architecture was that you didn't have to open the canister/head once you assembled the unit in order to turn it on or off.

I don't think poorly of the model/product. It was a combination of my unwillingness to troubleshoot further and my wife just had been hit by a drunk driver so I dumped things I deemed not needed and built my own head for half the cost down the road. (Not a comparison)

I also had a 2.7 that needed a trip to isc and divetronix so I didn't feel like having to pay that bill either 😂
