Has anyone replace Shadow Mounts with Metalsub brackets? If so, how do you like it? I have both options available.
Have you ever tried the Metalsub mounts? I can't speak for the Shadow Mounts (outside of pictures) but the Metalsub ones are very nice, quick and easy to use, and fairly low profile. Very sturdy with 3L tanks.

I have not mine still has the pre-shadow Tiger mounts which are pretty dang robust and closer to the metalsub than shadows. I like them and see no reason to change them

Yes, I have tried those. The question is - how are they on a Meg? Any gotchas?

I use Metalsub on my Meg, and I'm happy with them.
When I bought my Meg15 back in '15 my instructor recommended buying the Meg without shadowmounts and go for Metalsub.
I now have several male-side parts for several cylinders. These brackets also allow for a tankband to be used to mount the tanks, good for traveling. N@90 used to have tankbands for 3liters, but I think they are no longer availible.
An option that wasn't availible when I bought my Meg is that now the Meg-side bracket come in left/right so that the release-buttons can point the same way.

Edit: The use of a 3rd hoseclamp will secure the brackets to the canister way better so that the position doesn't shift.

This is what I currently have in the making. You don't need fancy bands - you can get 316 stainless steel bands from McMaster-Carr.

3L tanks are 3.96" in diameter, so you can use a 4" band. It is a tight fit, but I don't like dangling tails. The clamp below has rolled edges and a smooth reverse side, so that sharp parts do not dig into the tank and leave marks.
