It depends on how hard the LED is being driven a LuxIII can put out 80 lumens which is plenty of light.

I wondered because when primary lights are recommended it's always the ones with at least 150 lumen. anything under 100 seems to be relegated to a backup light.
 
I was in Bonaire a few weeks ago. I used the new Mini Q40 eLED+ by UK
as a primary dive light. It is supposed to be ~2 watts (40 Lumens).
It was plenty. Vis was ~100 ft, so water was also very clear.
Not quite as bright as my wife's ikeLite PCa but pretty close.

I think alot depends on what you are trying to light up. In my case, I was
doing night dives around the Salt Pier and along the reef.
I started off using a UK 1200 8D cell monster and after my first dive,
I left it behind. My small Q40 was enough.
