Hey all

Well, i am in the process of purchasing my own back inflation device, and as i was doing some research i came across this:

http://www.scubastore.com/shop.asp?...scarfamiliaquicknavigation&id_familia_quick=8

I was wondering? anyone have this particular bcd? is it back inflation? what are some opinions with it? also, i have been looking for sites that have good deals on: halcyon, OMS, and dive rite....i have checked all the, well, generic ones such as leiusrepro, scubastore, scuba.com...

and also, if anyone new of any specails that are happening...hmm, thanks a lot guys.

Is it back inflate: Yes

Is it a backplate / wing: Nope

Would I recommend it over a bp/w: Nope

If you have a chance try out a bp/w, in compairson to a backinflate bcd.
And for that price you should be able to get a halcyon, dive rite, oms, DSS bp/w with sta and SS plate.

Hope this helps,

Yeah, today I saw an Oxycheq Signature wing with a SS BP and standard harness on sale for $380.00.

I would suggest checking out Deep Sea Supply and Tobin's rig. Very well made and affordable....

Do some research on this board on bp/w setups before you make a purchase. I did, and this board rocks with a wealth of info and feedback from members.

I have this BeSea, and it is fantastic. It is different then a backplate and wing in that it is designed to fit like a backpack so that all the weight is distributed on your hips. Feels like a BP and wing in the water, but you get the benefit of not carrting the weight on your shoulders when you are gearing up or walking to the entry.

Yeah, I noticed the big hip belt which I'm sure is great for walking around, but in the water, where you actually use the gear, I think any sort of padding, especially anything that adds positive buoyancy around your hips, is not so good. Remember in the water the tank is not acting on your backs and hips like it is out of the water; in fact it's just about the opposite, lifting up and away if there's any air in the wing. Maybe a parchute type harness (whatever that is!) would actually be a better starting point for designing the ultimate BP/W harness.
