So on my suggestion, my fiancée, myself and another couple have rented a house on Little Cayman over New Year's. I just tried, admittedly quite late, to book space on dive boats, only to be told that they're booked up. I feel responsible, and don't want to let down my friends. I'm willing to substantially overpay to figure out how to dive while we're there. Anyone willing to take us? Or perhaps "sell" their spots on a dive boat? (I don't even know if that's a thing.) Thanks so much for any ideas.

It is possible to shore dive Little Cayman if you have a vehicle and can get somebody to rent you tanks. I assume you have already checked with Little Cayman Beach Resort, Conch Club Divers, Southern Cross Club, and Pirate's Point? You might also check with CCMI's Little Cayman Research Station. I believe they have a boat that they use for researchers. if you were willing to make a donation and they had nobody else using it, you might be able to swing a deal with them.

Welcome to the board,... yikes!

There used to be a Brac-cer who would take you anywhere for the right price, maybe delve into that avenue and find out if he still does, he'd might pick you up each morning( at least it might be an option). Last I talked to him was 3 years ago, I forgot his name.

Define "substantially overpay"...:D

One option is check with Brac Scuba Shack and find out if they're are coming over that week to dive Bloody Bay Wall. Or buy enough spaces on their boat so they will. Maybe they've got a couple people wanting to go and your group would make it possible...

They also list private all day charters - captain/boat only for $400/half day - $800/full day to Little Cayman. Private Charter Diving | Brac Scuba Shack I don't see why you couldn't ask them to load tanks/weights and meet you - prepaid of course. Even talk to the 4 Little Cayman operators - for enough $$ there might be another boat/crew suddenly available for private charter.

One problem might also be that the weather in winter is rougher between the islands - I don't really know.

I think Brac Reef resort also dives Little Cayman -> Bloody Bay Wall. https://www.facebook.com/BracReefBeachResort

Or

Rent tanks from one of the 4 listed shops if possible and shore dive. Maybe they know a guide also - or there's a staff member willing to freelance on their day off - some of the entries sound pretty challenging...

LCBR seems to have trouble getting the minimum number of people for night dives, even for the one on the "schedule" let alone any extra. (Something about the place makes people get very lazy.) So that might be something you can book with them. See if you can sign up for their regular one, and let them know you'd help fill a boat for some other night if they have some interest.

Go to the store in Blossom Village, find Kevin, and ask him how to get ahold of Castro. Castro normally takes people out fishing on his boat, but I'm sure he could take a small group out for a dive trip. You would still have to get tanks from one of the resorts. If Castro can't (or won't), Kevin may still know somebody else with a boat who can take you.

I'll be there from December 29 until the end of March and will be diving from shore. It is possible to get to almost all of the sites on the north shore from the beach. If you're thinking of doing this, make sure you bring booties with good thick soles and a set of open heel fins. Full heel fins do not cut it.

Thanks so much for all the responses. In answer to some of the questions, we'd be happy to pay for a solution originating on Cayman Brac. I think we'd be willing to pay around $1,000 for the three of us per day or even half-day if necessary.
