Is there an especially nice stainless steel harness buckle?

No doubt a weird question, but anyone know of any? Not that there's any problem with the functionality of mine, but pretty much every time I put it on, the relatively sharp edges and corners really irritate me. At least from pictures on the Internet, they all seem to be about the same in that respect.

Thanks.

Yes there is. Made by Deep Outdoors and also sold with rEvo Rebreathers. Deep Outdoors is pretty much gone now, but they still deal privately and probably have stock. The advantage of their buckle is that it has a slot in front of the buckle as well as the slots behind it. What that means is that if you have a 2-piece crotch strap with Fastek buckle release, you can thread the receiving part onto the buckle and it will always be there, hanging dead center for you to clip in. Sure, some folks prefer a one piece strap that they thread into the harness every time. But after forgetting a few hundred times, I learned to appreciate the 2 piece design.
There are plastic buckles that have the same design with a slot forward of the buckle. But the DO or rEvo one is the only stainless one I ever found with that feature.

iPhone. iTypo. iApologize.

Thanks. I'll have to contact the company. But is this buckle any better than the rest out there, other than the slots in front and back? I have a single crotch strap that the harness slides through.

The OxyCheq buckle is nicer than the DR ones in my opinion. I have 3-4 Oxycheq's and one DR. Smoother edges, more polished, and beefier.

DSS buckles are much thicker than the Dive Rite buckles.

I have a whole mess of buckles, and they definitely vary. Some are pot-metal and light and bend easily; that kind eventually spreads and lets go of the pins that hold the flat part of the buckle, and you have to pound them with a weight to make them work again.

The best buckle I own has a H on it. I don't know who provides Halcyon's buckles, but they are heavy and thick and don't spread.

Thanks, Lynne. Is this the one you're talking about?

And buddhasummer: thanks, but the AGIR stuff doesn't seem easy to come by.
