hi everyone

someone offered me a slightly used aqualung legend lx
im more of a scubapro guy so im lost with this reg. but it seems like a good deal.

the legend does have a balanced diaphragm and acd but it seems like it cant really be used ofr cold water diving, am i correct?

also, my biggest concern is the 2nd stage may not be able to perform in 360 degrees, i.e. upside down etc. anyone care to comment?

im choosing between this and a mk25/g250, although im also considering just upgrading my 2nd stage but cant seem to get a hand on a good 2nd hand g250 or d400 here in my country.

but comments on the legend lx would be great though

cheers

The Legend LX will be fine in any water. Aqualung does make a "supreme" version which is marketed towards cold water, but the only changes between the two are a silver ring and a lip guard. For extreme ice diving, you might want to look into the Legend Glacia. Because of the environmentally sealed Diaphragm design, the Legend series regulators are perfect for dirty debris filled water and cold harsh environments. I find when taking certain shots, my Legend LX will get breathe a little wet, but usually is bone dry. I wouldn't worry about it performing badly in any head position.

whats the silver ring for?

To differentiate it from the "regular" Legend, which has a gold ring. (ie: Cosmetic difference)

I have the Legend LX Supreme. It breathes perfect upside down or any other way you could configure yourself underwater. The Supreme is also de-tuned a bit to avoid free-flowing in cold water, so if you had concerns about using a non-Supreme version in cold water you could certainly adjust it accordingly.

ok. thats what i thought so too.
i got a second hand legend lx acd that had 3 dives in it for 400 hundred dollars this morning. it had the legend octo and a mini spg and an lp hose so all ready for diving. the reg was really shinny and all as it has been used only for a checkout dive.
it had a silver ring however and i thought the lx acd comes witht he gold ring.
but it is indeed an lx since it had the vinturi and ease of breathing knobs.

I'm coming in a little late but I can confirm what has laread been said about the Legend LX. It's a great rig and suited for Ice Diving out of the box.

I've only got 30 dives on mine but I've been upside down, swimming on my back (face-up) and even known to do "summer-saults" in the water without any issues.

You got a great deal on the setup especially with the Legend Octo being included.

yeah kyphur i really think i did. the reg really look brand new. and the guy i bought it from is selling my old reg for $200. so this new reg costs me a net of $200 actually.
sweet.

the only two regs i have admired and ever contemplated using/switching have been AQ and SP

i loved my old mk10/r190
