One thing that's worth noting is that these professionals almost never actually have to buy their own BCDs ... and often they "sponsor" a specific brand, and are paid to do so. All of which is to suggest that their reasons for choosing a particular style of BCD may not be the same as they would be for the average recreational-level underwater photographer.
Another is that these folks have so much bottom time they could exhibit superb buoyancy control using a Hefty bag for a BCD ...
