Not what I would do, but what I did. Family beach vacation in Cancun. Took myself, wife and a daughter to Playa del Carmen for 2 tanks of diving on 1 day with our own gear schlepped from the NYC area. Dove mid week; everything dried fully before the return. Yes, the extra gear bag (for 2 people) was a bit of a pain, but not too much. And, we used our own gear.

Sound like what I'm going to do at this point. Just did the math last night as we were packing. It would cost $10 for the regulator, $10 for a BC, and $15 for a computer, multiply by 2 for 2 divers and the total for gear alone is $70. Pack the gear and without baggage fees I can take my own gear with no cost. Did some research online and instead of Stuart's Cove we decided to go with Bahamas Diver's for a day. It's much closer to our hotel and was recommended by the concierge. We booked for the blue hole which looked like a really neat dive by the photos on their website. My daughter and I are really excited to sneak in the dive, especially since we weren't planning on getting any diving in for a long time.
