Hey guys,

I purchased an Ikelite housing for my canon G9. I'm ordering an Ikelite ds-125, and was wondering if its possible to add on a ds-51 using Ikelites dual sync cord. If I did this would both strobes fire in TTL? Would I be better off using the single sync cord for the ds-125, then adding on a manual controller for the ds-51? There are so many options to work with, it can be overwhelming. I'd appreciate any response.

Thank you in advance for your time & happy shooting!

Yes, a dual sync cord will work, and both will fire in TTL.

The manual controller will give you more flexibility in terms of balancing the strobes, but will be a more cumbersome set-up. Since the DS51 is already a less powerfull strobe, setting it manually only gives the choice of dimmer or much dimmer ... not sure that would mean much to me.

Either option would give good results; you just need to decide which works better for your needs.

No. This would only help if you were shooting the DS125 manually also. If you took a shot with a DS51 on manual and the DS125 on TTL and then decided to change the setting on the DS51, the output of the DS125 would also change without you doing anything.

I suggest not getting the controller. If you really feel you need the precision of more strobe power settings you can always buy it later.
