I have a couple of SeaLife trays (picture of one is attached, the other one is slightly longer). I'm wondering if DIVEVOLK SeaTouch 4 MAX PLUS can be mounted on it?

I tried google, and it gave me two seemingly opposite answers to two slightly differently worded questions (see below).

I'm hoping someone here has tried it and can report on the results?

Answer 1:

Yes, a DiveVolk SeaTouch 4 MAX PLUS can be mounted on a SeaLife tray by using a compatible adapter or a universal tray with a 1/4-inch screw mount. The DiveVolk housing has a 1/4-inch screw thread, and adapters like the DiveVolk SeaTouch 4 Max Expansion Clamp are available to provide the necessary mounting points for trays and other accessories.

Answer 2:

No, the DIVEVOLK SeaTouch 4 MAX PLUS Underwater Housing is not designed to be compatible with a SeaLife tray, as it is a standalone smartphone housing with a robust body, unlike the modular SeaLife SportDiver housing, which uses a tray and is controlled via Bluetooth, according to the UW Photography Guide.

By sheer chance I was able to see and even hold one at an LDS yesterday. So I can answer my own question now:

- No, it won't connect, as it doesn't have the standard photo tray threaded openings
- No, I won't be buying one, as it literally weighs like a brick and is huge

The regular housing requires the expansion clamp to add a threaded hole; the “platinum” housing has one inherently. (Still might not fit your tray, as it is pretty wide.)

Not to sound like an apologist, but: it’s same or smaller in most dimensions than the competitive housings, and lighter than nearly all.
