Is Cozumel any good?

Looking to take Ms Spunk on holiday for the 1st two weeks in Dec and Cozumel appears to be about $1000 cheaper than Barbados and Tobago etc.. all inclusive.

Ms Spunk has turned her nose up at it claiming she doesnt want to go to Mexico (quite why I dont know)

The beaches look great which suits her and the diving sounds good which suits me.

Please help

What, are you kidding? Cozumel is GREAT!!!

Cozumel is the best diving for the money.....there is better diving out there but not as cheap as cozumel...go you will love the diving!

What are the beaches like?

There is a beach club and some sandy beaches, but... probably not the greatest. But there are snorkeling tours, party boats, etc.

What are the beaches like?

There are some very nice beaches just not in front of most resorts. South westside has some nice beaches but heavy surf...there is a really nice beach in front of the reef club.

Gone diving there a few times. I WILL go back again. There are some beaches, but it depends on where you stay. If reef club is open they have beaches - at least before Wilma. Also, I believe they are close to the main dive spots.

Not sure about the anti mexico thing. Cozumel is pretty clean compared to a border town. Less of a drunken party scene compared to Cancun. I would suspect that a large percentage of the people who go there are going to dive.

As an alternate consideration, look at Playa Del Carmen (Mexican Riviera). Some really nice beaches, decent diving off shore there as well as the cenotes nearby, and Cozumel is an hour boat ride ($10 each way) away.
