Review of TUSA IQ800 DC-Sapience:

Just completed 6 dives with the IQ800 and I am thrilled with this computer!

The computer does an excellent job displaying dive time, depth, ascent speed (alarming set for vibration), NO2, and O2 levels with the big display screen that is easy to read at a glance. I was able to get a DECO dive; the computer gave me a 3 minute warning before I was going to enter a DECO required stop. When I entered DECO zone the display gave me the DECO stop depth limit with the time required before surfacing. Once the DECO timer lapsed, another standard 15ft. DECO stop had a 3 minute timer that counted down the minutes until surfacing was permitted. I enjoyed the timer, which stopped and started if the depth went below 20ft. I was able to view the water temp. by pushing the top right bottom, interesting info. to have! The plastic display cover came in-handy, without the cover the display would have many scratch with the first dive! The only complaint that I have was the rubber wrist strap was too big, maybe I am too skinny for the strap, but I had it on tight and had to deal with the excess strap sticking out like a sharks fin!

If any one has other questions regarding the IQ800 I will be happy to answer if I can!

Regards,

Pablo

I was considering a 2nd computer as a back up. I have a Suunto Cobra which is air integrated. I have been complaining I can NEVER hear the beeps (everyone else around me seems to though) I just saw this on LP online and then when to Tusa.com to read up. It is nice that you just reviewed this! For the price, it would be a great addition. My other issue I wish these companies would address better is making numbers bigger. Sherwood makes a great one with what they call BFN (Big Fat numbers) I wish someone would get their act together and create BOTH.

I have using this computer for almost 30 months and 100 dive now, and; just brought another one since I flooded the first one because I change the battery myself without new parts. :( its not that save a few dollars be the reason. its because I been order that parts for 4 months and it still not come up. my advise is changing the o-ring is a must! anyway,

the second one is brought from the states's online shop, travel all around to HK. that why you can see how adore for me in this computer. you might ask why not brought one from HK, the reason is the stock been out since early this year and not any coming until next year as they said. :shakehead:

all I can said about this computer is nothing bad that I can think of. I would like to use it evey time. even wearing it daily since I have change that strap.

Thanks Philip, I actually ordered one from my LDS and should come in within the next week or so. My next dive trip isn't until November. I have already downloaded the manual and tried to understand it before it comes in...Im such a tech geek. From what I understand, they are in back-ordered supply here as well. I guess that is a good sign:eyebrow:
I'm excitedly waiting.

I ABSOLUTELY LOVE MY IQ800 WRIST COMPUTER. I am using it as a the primary with my backup suunto integrated computer. I needed it for the vibration mode. It alerted me each and every time. The big numbers were great as well. Wish it were integrated as i could not read air left on my suunto at night.

SO GLAD I GOT IT!!!

Well, I too have a Sapience Tusa IQ 800 which works great for me. It is, I think, a very conservative computer (I forget the algorithm; Swiss, is it?), so it beeps, or vibrates, as it were, all the time depending on conditions and ascent rate. At first, the vibrations are startling, but then one gets used to it.

It is easily visible at depth. It gives good, understandable readings, and the deco warning is great. It is intuitive to operate. If the deco dive alarm comes into play, it provides a recommended depth and time for the deco stop. The 3 minute safety stop kicks in at 20 feet but the timer pauses if one gets deeper than 20. The plastic scratch guard, as one person said, is essential and included. The strap, as another said, is large enough to fit a log! The manual is fairly easy to understand for the most part.

The price can be high. I shopped mine around and around and around, until I found a very good price, and recommend prospective buyers do the same.

I hope that helps. :lotsalove:

I have had mine for about 3 years. It is my primary computer. Easy to read and when a lot of divers are in the water many watches are beeping upon ascent, with the vibration mode it is easy to tell if it's yours. I don't know why it isn't so popular in the US? Easy to use. Great for divers who start to wear reading glasses. 40+ age.
