Last two trips = two flooded cameras. Last one I didn't notice pinched o-ring. Maybe third try i won't lose another! If I do I may quit underwater photography!

James, you and I are in the same boat... last year I lost my new camera when my casing came open (don't know how...) in the rinse bucket. That was $400 down the drain... so this year I am going to try and make it through the two weeks (yep, I said TWO) of diving without having to buy a new camera again. Here's to fingers crossed!!!

This trip is putting me in the poorhouse. So far for this trip I've purchased:

1. Used Oly SP350, with case, Inon UWL-105 AD Wide Angle lens, Nikon strobes: 102 and 105, trays, arms and various tidbits.
2. A Bare 1MM fullsuit, and a hooded sleeveless vest.
3. Big Blue 250 lumen adjustable beam light (to compliment the fixed focus one I already have :) ).
4. 20 AA Sanyo Eneloops, 10 AAA's and a Maha Charger.

I'm sure there are more bits of gear I won't be able to live without ;)

I am going on the cheap... Learned that my BCD and most components are shot cause I let my uncle use them and he didn't rinse the sand out so that in turn screwed up all kinds of stuff. Dump valves are shot, auto inflator has a pretty good leak, ect, ect... We will be renting this trip because I am not dropping a grand on new equipment. Jason (me) is a lil on the ticked off side this morning. On the other hand I needed an excuse to get new gear just not in the works for this trip.

That sucks. Loaning equipment is always iffy, but you'd think family would be more careful.

He was diving rip rap at a local lake to retrieve fishing lures and left the equipment laying in the sand all day while 4-wheelers played in the area. I love him but dang it!!!!

That stuff is probably not all ruined. Most of that can be serviced relatively inexpensively. You can get a new inflator and dump valve parts (link) without a huge hit to your wallet.

I'd check that route before replacing it all, in any case...unless you wanted new gear anyway and this gives you a good reason to do it.

I am ready for some new stuff. I have had this gear serviced and repaired MANY times.
