Hey everyone! I am new to scuba diving, new to scubaboard and of course new to these forums. Since receiving my OW cert in July, I have logged about 14 dives, I'm always looking for a safe dive buddy and of course always looking to learn more about Scuba. Of course the one point that I am sure comes to a big shock to everyone here is that I am ALWAYS looking for a chance to get in the water. Sadly, it is October and getting to cold to dive where I live... at least with my current equipment and level of experience...

All I can say is come on summer!!!!

...And, too bad I have to work for a living, it really cuts in to my diving time!
 
Welcome to the wide, wide world of scuba, C. Diver. You can extend your diving into the beginning of winter by taking a large thermos of hot water with you. Pour it into your wetsuit, gloves, and boots. It prevents cold water from rushing in when you first enter the water. Wear a hood. A hood makes a BIG difference in heat loss prevention. I found a hot shower at one of the inland dive sites. I used it to fill my suit (while wearing it) with hot water. Worked like a charm! Good luck and happy diving!

BTW, I see you are from SC, we are planning a trip to Myrtle or maybe Charleston next summer with the family. As the only diver going, is there any diving in those areas? and do you have any suggestions about how to set up a day or two diving? I think I would prefer shallow dives of 50' or so. Thanks again!
 
Coastal Scuba, NuHorizons, and Express Scuba are the dive stores I am aware of in Myrtle. Charleston Scuba in Charleston. There may be more but these are the first to come to mind. They all do 50-60 foot offshore dives. Check with the stores to find out what is available, when, and how much. They all have websites.
