Just introducing myself. I plan to get my open water cert in May or June. Came to this forum for advice and info. As a beginner, am I better off going to an LDS or will the Sports Chalet up the street be ok for lessons?

Welcome to the 'board and hopefully to the world of SCUBA!!!

I am a firm believer that the instructor makes or breaks the open water cert training. I went thru' S.C. but only because I knew the instructor was tough and good. Check out this link before dropping any money down for classes:

Also ask in your future local forum for local insight here:

Get a good start and you too will be addicted to this underwater world.
