I am renting a camera and would like to load the pic's online while I am there. Besides the Phone Connection (I think that's what it was called), is there a place to get access to the Internet? I am staying at Plaza Los Glorias and Don't think I can get access there.

Any thoughts anyone?

Have not heard of the Phone Connection. Do you by some chance mean the Calling Station on Melgar just south of the plaza?

Anyway, I'd suggest that you try Net and Call, next to Rock n' Java on Melgar.

Best regards.

Thats what I was thinking of, just wrote the name wrong. I will definitely go check out Net and Call since it's right next to PLG.

thanks

Whatever its called..there is a little internet cafe/phone call place right next to Dive Paradise just north of PLG.

Very cheap..like a dollar for a half hour of internet usage.

Any net access you will find will be dialup, so dealing with pix will be slow. As an alternative, there is a camera shop next door to the Calling Station where you can get your digital pix burned onto CD.

I thought that the few "Internet cafe's" like the Calling Station had DSL or better connections... they use Dial up as well???

Maybe I'll just wait to upload pic's I guess....

Thanks

Hmmmm, now that you mention it, the Calling Station had a LAN, I believe, so they'd probably not be sharing a dialup, so it must've been DSL. It was pretty slow, though, on the days we used it. But if you're shooting at high rez, and you've got a lot of pix, even with broadband you are going to need a fair amount of time. We got our card dumped onto CD and freed it up for more shots at that place next to the Calling Station, and it was cheap - something on the order of 6 bucks for a 256 MB card.

I cannot find an active internet address for them.

Are they still open? I used to love the web cam in front of their store.

Does anyone know if they are still there?

Thanks

I don't know the status of the calling stations webcam but will try to check it out...meanwhile, the Internet& Phone place...right next to Dive Paradise [and downstairs from my office] is a great way to hook up to high speed DSL service. The man who owns the place is a wonderful techno-gadget-freak and has all the latest and greatest stuff!! It is definitely your closest, best option if staying at PLG!!
Remember, we're always looking for new pics to post on cozumelinsider under the diving section ~ so send us a couple of your good ones!! You'll get published with full credit!!
Have fun and enjoy your stay in Cozumel!!

They (the Calling Station) were up and running a month ago when I was there.
