I just finished reading this story on the Totoaba fish down in the Sea of Cortez. It looks like poachers are dealing them the final death blow, after suffering years of overfishing and loss of habitat due to the damming of the Colorado river.
I've never heard of the totoaba but hate to say that it doesn't surprise me.
