Hi all,
I was wondering if there was anyone that had knowledge in and around diving badges.Reason why is my uncle received a badge in 1981.He was very experienced and was often called in to assist in dives off of oilrigs. When he gave me the badge he told me to lok after it as the others that he knew of had been sewn onto jackets. The one I have is still in mint condition has the words "Oceaneering Diving Division " done in black thread over a gold thread border,in the center is an old diving helmet done with gold and black thread.
He never told me why he was given the badge only that the memories that went with it where enough for him not to want a constant reminder.
I have included the picture.
Any information would be greatly appreciated.
Regards
Dave

welcome aboard. try posting your question in a different area of the board. Maybe scuba agencies.Good luck and sorry i could not help

There is an oil rig support outfit in Texas named Oceaneering, it's been around since 1964. Maybe he provided local support on some dives with them & they gave him a patch. Try contacting them if you're curious.
