group of 4 are chartering a crewed catamaran in the BVI in November for diving. do you know of any insurance to cover the cost of the charter if the boat is incapable of sailing in November ( boat sinks , catches fire , destroyed in storm ) squaremouth and world nomads said no.

If the charter can't sail, then wouldn't they reimburse the charter fee for their own non-performance? Of course if their primary asset goes away, the funds may be spent already "they" might go away, so I do see your worry. Is this a single boat/small charter company or one boat in a large charter fleet (even if the boat is individually owned but put in charter)?

Airfare, etc. might be covered by trip cancelation insurance, but you would have to drill down to confirm.

Why is normal trip insurance inadequate for your needs? You can get "cancel for any reason" riders for the more conventional policies too.
