Hi all- after coming back from the Philippies where I did my PADI AOW, I've noticed my instructor didn't sign my speciality dives in my log book.

I have received my PADI card etc.

I'm planning on takng my Rescue Diver course in a few months and am wondering whether this could be a potential problem.

So my question is: Are the instructor's signatures that important?

Cheers

As long as you have the card it shouldn't be much of a problem. my Instructor didn't sign all the paperwork in my log for OW untill he was signing the stuff for AOW months later.

As far as PADI goes, as long as he/she signed your PIC and sent it in and you have the card, you're good to go.

yeah... all you'd have to show for your next level of training would be the card

No. What matters is what PADI had on record, not what you have in your log book.

R..

The only reason a signature on the PADI specialty dive log from an instructor is important, is if by some chance you don't receive your certification card. With the instructors signature on the log, you would be able to obtain your C-card from PADI in that event. So the rule of thumb is simply get it all signed, then you have nothing to worry about. Even though the actual number of students who take a course and end up without a certification card is extremely rare, it has been known to happen.

You got your card, and with that you are able to move onto the PADI Rescue Diver certification.

Have fun on your course, now go get wet....

Funny - but I've been asked for my cert# on several ocassions, but like rfmna my NAUI card has no # either except the instructors ... so they have used that number every time. Everyone that has asked for the number has seemed surprised NAUI does not use one ... no matter - it still works and the water is still wet.
