Heres the deal:

Later this year, I want to move out to Southern California. My friend's uncle owns some real estate in the San Diego area, so she said we could get a good deal living wise. We're both 19, and I'll be a MSDT and she'll be a DM.

Before I agree to move out there, I'd like to have some sort of idea what I'm doing.

Anyway, I'm going to Thailand in feb, and will be back in mid june, where I will probably work at a dive shop here in NY for the summer.

I'll be getting my MSDT in Thailand, and am hoping that once I'm out in SD, I'd be able to find a job doing something with diving. Along those lines, I know kayaking is pretty big out there, as well. I've been working a summer job at a kayak shop here in NY for the past 5 summers, so I'd consider myself pretty proficient in the areas of kayaking, as well. I figured I'd put that in there for another "qualification."

Anyway, my question is: Is there any sort of dive shop database (for lack of a better term) for the SoCal area? If not, will any of you kind souls post a few dive shops' names and/or websites you know of? I'd like to e-mail a few shops to see what my hiring chances are like.

Thanks a lot, in advance,
Ryan

If you're looking for a PADI shop, you can use this link to find one:

PADI Dive Center and Resort Directory

From there you can find out if they need instructors.

I am not sure what other resources PADI offers for its professionals. You must have a way to find job offers (my experience is with SSI and they have ways to find jobs and post that you are looking for a job).

Good luck, sounds like a fun adventure.

Thanks a lot, everyone.
