Hi,

I have an Apeks WTX Harness and a WTX4 (45 lbs. bouyancy cell). Right now I am not a tech diver, but eventually I'd like to use this rig for doubles. I do the majority of my diving in the Gulf, but need better weight distribution for teaching surface skills.

I have the Surelock weight pouches on the front belt of my rig and I hate them, ready to get rid of 'em and dive steel tanks and just the plate with no other weight.

My question is: If I buy a backplate for my rig, how do I install it with my existing Apeks WTX Harness and cell? Also, do I need to buy the Apeks plate, or will any plate bolt in correctly.

LP has some DiveRite plates for about $100, where the LDS wants $174 for the Apeks one.

Thanks for the help,

Wilson

From one former Marylander who's now living in Fla.....WELCOME.....:)
My folks are over in Pensabama as is my younger bro who's retired Navy.
I've lived in Maryland most of my life but now call Jupiter,Fla home.

Installing a back plate to a wing is as close to a no brainer as you can get.
If diving singles, just thread cam straps through the wing and plate.
If diving doubles, the bands bolt to the plate.
You don't need to purchase any particular brand plate...just get one with slots for straps.
Not all come with slots.....it's rare to find one without slots but they're out there.
Do a search and you'll find almost everything you need to know right here on SB.

Good luck with your move and have fun diving the Mighty "O"
