Hey,

I plan on getting training on ccrs in a year or so. My two current choices are the inspiration or the meg? What are the advantages and disadvantages that you guy know of? What would you go with and why?

Thanks

Leave the descision for next year, there are at least another 3 CCR's heading to the market in that time frame

In the meantime learn all the theory you can and maybe arrange a go on a couple of units.

Download the manuals and read all you can

Both are very good units and its very hard to choose between them. One is far more popular though

Browse all the websites you can find. Start with mine and use its links page to branch out http://www.btinternet.com/~madmole/divemole.htm

Have fun

thanks for your response.

Do you have any information on up and coming ccr"s. I would like to read about plans or prototypes. I've heard a lot of good things about the inspiration, however my only concern is that it's "old". I mean if you look back at dive computers from 1999 then you will realize that technology has improved. Does ambientpressure have any play to make a new ccr in the future?

thanks

Infinito, Evolution and Stingray come to mind. You will find references to some of these but definately not the Stingray yet.

Also Halcyon may be about to do a CCR, Certain Gods have made positive CCR noises lately which means they are preparing the followers for a U turn on their preaching

The Inspration has evolved continously in the time its been made, The current units only bear a remote relationship to the early ones. APD cant be doing too much wrong to be in production for 5 years and out sell all the other CCRS added together

There is now such a huge 3rd party support markey for the yellow box, you can build your own from scratch from non APD parts!!! ( I have done so!!)

About a Halcyon CCR I mean. Initials didn't change their meaning to Great's the Inspiration on 3rd thought ... . Thank God for the Helicopter turn, makes 180s so much quicker. :D

Stingray ... mmmh. Is it gonna have a V8 ?

What 3rd party counterlungs are you using ? Where are you going to put the 2nd set of them on your Twin ? Side-by side ? What do you think about the KISS' position? That could work ... .

Cheers
Stefan

Yes, I was serious, certain WKPP associated divers actually have made some positive comments. And what was Kevin Juergenson (Hammerhead) doing on the Halcyon stand at the last show? There has also been some serious enquiries from RB80 users about a Hammerhead CCR conversion

Lungs, I'm currently using modified normal ones, but its easy to get neoprene ones made up. I've been playing with mounting 2 pairs, piggy back style in the original location (only one set get inflated at a time), other folks (well Dave Thompson) have been experimenting with a second set tucked in Wing bungies and the top of the Inspiration case. All are a better breath than a certain unit which has the counterlungs by the wearers bum!!!
