I'm a Fish!
We would like to announce that Insel Air has lowered the price of their special promotional fare we informed you about last month. Right now, the Saturday, direct flight, from Miami to Bonaire, round trip is USD $233.00 per passenger. This fare is valid as of today (has already been filed in all GSD systems) and will be available and sellable through Friday, June 4, 2010. The fare includes government taxes and fuel charges; it excludes departure taxes and the rate is subject to availability.

The booking window is flexible, and tickets can be booked through travel professionals / Insel Air at Tel. +599 9 737 0444 or via Insel Air Curacao - Welcome to Insel Air.

Insel Air has been focusing on the group business from Miami to Bonaire as well, through various channels in the US market. More information on group bookings can be obtained through Insel Air or Travel Professionals.

WE CAN ARRANGE GROUP BOOKINGS, JUST ASK!

Most of their Saturday RT flights are $473 RT, MIA-BON, per their website.
Something funny is going on here.
Call me back when they offer bargain fares seven days a week, via Curacao...

What is a GSD system?

Wizard,

I need to check and see why it is not showing up in their system. You can however go to Airline Tickets, Cheap Flights, Cheap Plane Tickets, Cheap Airfare ? CheapOair and get that fare. Paradise, GSD system is the distribution system to track and book flights online.

Liz

Liz, I'm sorry but I have to caution against using Cheapoair.com. I purchased tickets through them for my trip last October, and found the flights they provided wouldn't work. I had 30 minutes from the time the American Airlines flight landed in Miami to deplane, walk to baggage claim, retrieve my luggage, then start the check-in process at a different terminal for the Insel flight. Cheapoair.com said it was a legal connection and blamed American and Insel. All admitted that the connection was not possible, but cheapoair would not do anything but claim American and Insel wouldn't refund my tickets without penalty. Finally, they quit returning my calls - you have to enter the reservation number before you can get anywhere in the automated phone system. They would just put me in an ignore hold. After Google-ing cheapoair.com scams, I realized this was standard practice with this company. Ultimately, calls to American Airlines (which revealed no attempt to obtain a refund) they refunded their portion of the ticket. A challenge on my credit card obtained the rest of the refund.

I saw the sale price on Insel's website last month. It was only available for certain months or a specified time-frame. I would recommend against purchasing anything from cheapoair.com. You can throw your money away easier. If you can't get the fare directly from Insel, there may be a good reason why.

I think Liz also mentioned that Insel was now baggage sharing with US Air. If so, you might be able to purchase valid tickets from them.

If nothing else, google cheapoair.com scams and look through all the other company names they also use to scam customers before deciding to gamble with them.

I just went to the Insel website Liz posted in the first post. The discount airfare is available for Mar 27 - Apr 3 and Apr 17 - Apr 24. The other dates in Mar and Apr are sold out. The price went up for flights in May.

I think for the special price, the trip must be completed by Apr 30. I remember reading it was a limited time offer, but I don't remember where I read it. Maybe from Ann on BonaireTalks?

Thanks Rick.

Even though the other dates may be sold out, I would call Insel direct to check. We had guests who checked on line for flights to St. Maarten from Bonaire, and they were listed as sold out. I was able to call Insel and get the flights for them. I think the reason is that Insel allows "tour operators or GDS users to "block" flights (almost all airlines do) and then releases them on a last minute basis back to the airline if they are not sold. It can't hurt to try.

Liz,

As usual, that's great advise. My post was an attempt to show that the reduced fares were offered on Insel's website, and second, to discourage buying a ticket from Cheapoair.com. Cheapoair.com will gladly take your money, without a second thought as to actually providing the ticket.
