I looked at some dates in November and got this fantastic airfare on Insel's site. Only the flights thru Curacao, not the non-stops. I also tried some dates in December but the sale apparently goes only until Dec 2nd flights.

Oh crap. They were offering Charlotte for much more, and for me, from NY to charlotte is more than from NY to miami.

Just make sure you have a good understanding of their baggage policy. It is different once you get to Curacao. Get it in writing if at all possible. We have a group going later this year and we got 3 different answers concerning our luggage once we got to Curacao. One said all of it was free since we orginated in the US, one said anything over 30 kg was extra, on said that 30kg was max that could be taken and the rest would be sent over at their earliest convience. I loved their prices but am wary of their luggage policy.

I have read all those as well, I would go with what the website sez for the various aircraft they fly. The EMB-110 Banderante is a commuter aircraft with about 15-20 seats and the baggage capacities are stated on their website. They also have Fokkers which are a bit larger now, but not listed on the site. We are using Divi Divi Air Cur-Bon and return and their stated carryon is waaaay low, 6.5 lbs.--checked 44 lbs. I will stay with the 44 checked, that's about what my dive bag will weigh with some clothes in it along with a set of gear. Insel is 44 checked as well on the smaller planes. Insel does offer free an additional 22lbs of scuba gear. Yep, it's sorta a crap shoot unless one is on the non-stops!!!

Do you know, can the extra 22 lbs be in the same bag as the other 44 lbs? Or does it require a separate bag, which will cause problems with the other airlines?

I asked the same question and the PROBABLE answer is a separate bag as the 44lbs in 1 checked bag is solid..............as you may realize--definitive answers are hard to come by, seems to depend on who's working the checkin desk.
