I was searching for the Breaking Surface movie trailer and sadly this picture surfaced.

Yep, was just about to post that one as well. Interesting SPG hose routing...

Well to be fair, Breaking Surface is about trying to rescue someone from being trapped by a rock fall underwater. Maybe she didn’t have time to put the gear together properly...

What’s really crazy to me as a cold water diver is that she does’t have a hood on while diving in Norway.

When it's snowing outside, I use a 10 mil hood. During summer I use a 7 mil. Diving without a hood isn't on the table, no matter the time of year. But I guess that girl on the poster wouldn't look quite as good with a hood on...

I had the interesting experience of meeting a couple of college exchange students at our regular training site some time ago. One of them hadn't brought a hood. I had just finished my dive and chose to lie to them, telling them that "sure, I wasn't planning on leaving here for at least an hour. There's no problem, you can borrow my hood (thinking if you don't want to risk hypothermia! I really don't want a diving incident here, we don't need any bad press!). The next time I met the leader of the student club I had a chat with him, mentioning the incident. No blamestorming, just suggesting that they looked again at their routines for renting gear to people who weren't quite used to the conditions up here.

When it’s snowing outside here, I wear my striped hat with the Pom Pom on the top.

I still haven't seen striped dive gear with a Pom Pom on the top. Is that a thing in Pandora?

A friend went diving with me off a day boat in Monterey, but forgot his hood. He refused to abort so we dove. On returning I had plenty of questions about whether he saw the seal that swam up to me at 60 feet while he just tried to get blood flowing and rid of the worst ice cream headache ever. He declined dive 2. Popsicle head is a common joke between us now.
