I'm a Fish!
Looking to come up there this summer for a fw days of diving and primarily interested in WWII wrecks, especially the U Boats you have up there. Looking for information on: (1) the best months for diving (condition-wise), (2) best wrecks/U Boats and (3) best dive shops to use.

Thanks for the information.

Your best chance for good conditions usually starts around early June and runs until the first hurricane comes up the coast. Sometimes that's July, sometimes it's never.

U-352 is the most popular U-boat for rec divers. All the boats out of Morehead and Beaufort go there every week. Olympus (ad at the top of the page) has a strong history with U-352 and some really nice artifacts in the shop (Olympus Dive Center). Discovery Diving (Discovery Diving Co., Inc. - North Carolina Wreck Diving in the Graveyard of the Atlantic) also runs a couple of full size dive boats and does a nice job. I enjoy both, and tend to dive with whoever has space. Spots during the peak season can fill up fast.

GoDiveNC has some great information for divers about the area.

Other U-boats for rec divers are U-85 out of the Nags Head area and U-701 out of Hatteras. U-85 is in cooler greener water, and U-701 often has bad conditions on the wreck (current). U-352 is the easiest and most popular if you're going to choose one.
