I am looking at taking my parents three kids and non diver wife to the keys sometime between jan-mar 09. and have looked at mabey going to kawama yacht club on speargirls recomaondation. Has any one stayed their and can comment on it. would you recomend any other places. I am looking for laid back and relaxation and not a crowded party or busy streets next to a McDonalds. This will our familys first time to the keys and I just whant to make sure it is a great exsperiance for my family so that I can come back again.(and not Disney World home of long lines) Any Info will be greatly apreciated. thanks

Becky's the best! A lot of us have stayed at Kawamas and have positive comments.

It's on the ocean... there is a guarded gate... security keyed elevator... no noise... no traffic....

It's a yacht club for god's sake.... yes it's quiet and out of the way.... Becky treats everyone like royalty... everyone but me that is

:rofl3:

CT is like a step child gone wild:rofl3: He is part of the Resident Conch corruption but only 200 times worse. His mind works on overtime thinking up things to do to the other SB people:rofl3: But without him in the mix it just wouldn't be as much fun

Ok but before I make any reservations when is the best time to go between Jan and March? The warmer the weather the better. It is real cold here in Nebraska right now! I will be the only one diving but the kids and wife like to swim an snorkel. I have a hundred more questions but I have a year to ask them. thanks so much for the help. Hey speargirl how far in advance can I book?

I try to only book no more than 4 to 5 months in advance.

The closer to March, the warmer it will be. The closer to January, the unpredictable it is. Cold fronts come and cold fronts go. They don't last long, but they sure make for a bumpy ocean.

Also, the later in March the winds tend to pick up as the season starts its change from winter to summer.
It's a toss up when to go. When the fronts arrive, its cold and blustery (for S. Florida standards), or you could have a sunny, flat seas, beautiful day! If you need to know the exact conditions.. call God! :)

I'll put my vote in for Kawama's. I've enjoyed my stays there! :D
