SAVE OUR LEATHERBACKS OPERATION (SOLO) has expeditons scheduled for July 21-31 and August 2-12 2007 on the MV Raja Ampats. Vessel departs/returns to port of Sorong, Irian Jaya.

TWO NIGHTS AND DAYS AT LEATHERBACK TURTLE NESTING BEACH IN REMOTE IRIAN JAYA (AKA PAPUA). These turtles are huge - 7' long and 9' wide to the tips of the flippers. You can observe these "gentle giants" exit the ocean, dig her "nest", lay her eggs, cover the "nest" and return to the ocean..... all by the light of the moon. You also have the opportunity to observe or even assist in the ongoing convservation efforts.

EIGHT DAYS OF DIVING IN THE RAJA AMPATS.

Cost of the 10 night/11 day expedition is $2000 which reflects a significant discount offered by the Indonesian boat owner. Travel and enroute lodging are not included but a group airfare is being negotiated. Expenses for this expedition should be deductible on your (US and Canadian) taxes if you itemize your expenses. SOLO is a 501 C3 non- profit organization.

For additional info you can PM me or contact the SOLO founder, Larry McKenna at saveourleatherbacks@earthlink.net . For more information on SOLO, please vist the SOLO website at http://www.leatherbackturtles.org .
