Demand for shark fin is declining for many yrs in HK. Many restaurants are taking ogg the item from the menu.
However, I would like to know who is eating the stuff other than chinese.

Well, I had no idea there was such a demand for shark in Europe (particularly Spain, that's surprising). I appreciate the information.

I am not aware of the culinary taste of the population in Spain but the graph I posted was about exports - implying that Sharks are fished and hunted in Spanish waters or from the Atlantic by fishing boats with the Spanish flag, but not necessarily consumed locally, perhaps processed more for exports. It may simply have to do with lack of local laws and regulations centered around marine conservation and overfishing, due to the presence of strong influential lobbies that seek profit over conservation …
