So, theoretically, if a newbie (wannabe) photographer told you that they were getting a Canon a95, with a WP-DC50 housing and a 1-2GB CF memory card, what would you say? Comments? Criticisms? Additional recommendations?

TIA!!!

Um...Have fun?

I'd say neat and enjoy.

lol...If alcina were here I am sure she would tell you that you have made a good choice and have a bit more to say...Hope she comes back soon....sorry to say I know nothing about canons.

What I can suggest is, whatever camera you choose get a good photo processing program for touch ups. Most users here use a variation of Photoshop. I use PS Elements 3, and every now and then I still go for my PSE 2 (don't ask me why, habit I guess).
Also when DL'ing your pictures, store them in their own file by date - it will match your log perfectly and make searching easier. Also, when processing - don't save your processed work over your original. Save it in a new file as a processed version. Your original is like your negative - wouldn't want to lose it....and if you already knew all this....Well then, thanks for reading and good luck with your photography ;)

One thing I would recomend, once you get your camera, is to take a course with a good photographer. Unless you can go diving every week with your camera and are really discaplined it can take a while to get great results. Having someone make you perform the correct procedures will give you a real head start in getting qulity images from every dive trip.

Good luck

I'd say "When are you guys coming back to Destin so you can get some pictures of ME?".

Well...if you wanted to sell me your 5050 setup I would head back to Destin and take that off your hands ASAP. :D If nothing else, we will definitely be back next summer if not sooner. I am still trying to find a 5050 setup but have had no luck. If I can't do that, I will be getting my a95 soon.

Thanks for all the advice... my husband would be more than willing to get a good Photoshop setup. He's been wanting one anyway...at least he was not too long ago. I will definitely have to become more organized once I start toying with pics and editing them.

As far as hooking up with a photographer for training, I'm pretty lucky. My husband has an uncle that lives about 15 minutes away that is a pretty good land photographer. I'm sure he will help me out as much as I need him to.

Thanks again!
