In need of advice.

Hi. I've been certified for less than a year and have yet to do an ocean dive. My husband and I are planning on going to DR this Feb./Mar., probably La Romana or Juan Dolio and I was wondering how to find out about the dive shops at the resorts. I would really appreciate any help

Hi, Jill. Thanks for the prompt reply. I'm actually looking for reviews. We were in Cuba last winter and thought that would be our first dive but after checking out the shop, which looked shabby and the Divemaster looked uninterested, we decided we wouldn't risk it. The resorts I'm looking at are the Coral Costa Caribe and Don Juan Beach Resort.

just get on to tripadvisor, type in the location and search scuba diving they will rate the ones in the location you a wishing to travel to

Try cross posting in the Greater Antilles subforum. You can also search DR in that forum and different posts will come up. I usually check out TripAdvisor, too.

Agree with good advice above. Trip Advisor, another subforum and even googling it and calling the diveshop there for information. Don't be afraid to say that you are a new diver (to the ocean). Everyone has to start someplace.

Thanks. I use Trip Advisor all the time and never considered them for dive info
