Hello,
I have looked for a bit and it seems like there is no really working solution except for manual edition (almost copy-pasting every single entry) of the database but... let's see!

My situation:
I failed to import my dives to Suuno Dive Manager but I managed to import them to Diving Log 5.0. I went diving. I got the computer memory filled with new dives.

So, I have new dives imported to Suunto Dive Manager (and on my computer) and old dives imported to Diving Log.

Is there any way in which I could move my dive profiles from Diving Log to Suunto Dive Manager? Maybe via some third party program? Moving the other way round is easy (DL supports import from SDM).

Thank you for advice!

I was under the impression that you could export from DL to SDM. Is that not the case? I don't have access to either right cause I'm at work, but I'll look for it later.

Do you have a copy of Diving Log 5.0? Can I ask why you don't want them all in there vs Suunto Dive Manager? I haven't purchased DL yet but I like what I've seen over the Suunto manager...other than cost.

You could contact DL via their site. He's always been really good at answering questions.

Hi

There is unfortunately no easy way to import anything into Suunto Dive Manager from other applications. Diving Log supports a number of standard export formats like UDDF, XML, Excel, but none of them can be imported into SDM, I'm sorry. The SDM database is an Access database, so maybe you can do that manually in MS Access by importing or copy/pasting, but it won't be easy.

Kind regards,
Sven

Thank you a lot for the clarification! I understand that there are no plans of supporting SDM formats, even if it led to loss of some information?

Best,
Theriel

Hi Theriel

Yes, unfortunately I can't add an export into any dive computer manufacturer software format. When you look at the number of import functions in Diving Log you can see that it would require to add the same number of export formats, and that's just not feasible. The other reason is, that these formats are not documented anywhere. I know just enough to import from them (and even that fails sometimes), but I never can ensure that I export a valid logbook file. I never know when and how they change their format.

I don't want any lock-in into Diving Log, that's the reason why I have an open and documented format and a number of exports into other open documented formats. So it's up to other programs to create an import from one of these standards like UDDF.

Kind regards,
Sven

Sorry for the misinformation. I guess I saw the export function and got confused with the list of the import file types. Thanks for correcting this Sven.
