OK, I am fully aware that of all the reasons that the BP oil spill is a tragedy, its impact my next vacation doesn't make the top 10 list.

Still, I'm hoping to plan a trip, cruise or on shore, with my family during Christmas break. My son (15) and I dive but my wife and daughter do not, so it can't be diving focused. Just a chance to get away and do a couple days worth.

Any thoughts on what the oil spill means for all this? Diminished all around? More diminished in particular places?

Thanks for any thoughts.

I have spoken with people that have been diving in parts of the gulf and were fine. Seeing as this is in the Caribbean section I am guessing you are planning on going some place further down than that I would think you will be fine. I am only going off what I have heard and not seen. I would say if you aren't planning on diving in the gulf than there wouldn't be any issue and if you are looking at the gulf wait awhile and keep tabs on what is happening.
