IMAX: Coral Reef Adventures

Just to let you all know, there is a new IMAX movie out about Coral Reefs. Its one of the best documentaries I've ever seen (I've even been involved with one myself, about elephants in thailand) and will stir your heart even if you've only ever snorkeled once. Check out where its playing near you:

I would second that recommendation. For those living in, or traveling to New York, you can catch it at The Museum of Natural History.

They do an Imax double feature, the second film being "incredible" footage of deep sea vent ecosystems. I've watched every special made on the deep sea, and most of this film was stuff I had never seen before.

Both films had me rooted to my seat...........

There's another thread on this somewhere, but my beef with the movie is that a scuba movie about protecting the reefs should have divers who don't actually harm the reef. But hey, maybe that's just me.

Cool site, I'll have to check it out. It's playing nearby - I'll have to take the kids during Spring Break.

Kinda funny one of the sponsors is Bed, Bath & Beyond - this is waaaaay beyond :grin:

It would be fair to say that's a legitimate complaint.....

I was so focused on the reef images, I didn't really notice. I have however, seen enough documentaries where the divers three guage clunky consoles were hanging down and dragging through everything to doubt you.

If not that, there's always the ever popular underwater rototilling

Howard and Michelle Hall held a free showing of the film at last year's Sea Rovers Clinic in Boston MOS ominimax theater. They also presented a film about the making of the IMAX filn including info on Howard's DCS hit. It showed the sequence of the filming and dicussions of issues such as how different it was for them to be appearing in one of their films. Very interesting speakers if you have a chane to see them at a scuba show.
