After reading your post I gave Webster and Remmy each an extra hug and biscuit. It’s so easy to take them for granted because they’re always here. But, if anything ever happened to them, they would be sorely missed.

ouch this hit home just a little too much. We had to put our white sheppard "Sierra" down at the begining of the year. She was only 6 but had very serious hip displasia and back problems where she couldnt walk for very long. I had to carry her down the stairs every day so she could go to the bathroom. She was on large dose steriod pills that olny helped for 2 weeks then she was back to barely moving.

She was a great dog and is missed.

I can remeber when we got her in Dallas and we took her for a walk around Los Colinas. There are these large ponds/lakes around the appartments and she had never seen water before. She was just running around chasing her frizbee and ran straight into the water at full speed. She was quite shocked at the change terrain and we were all LOAO. One of my favorite memories of her.

I truly know the pain you are going through, but can't imagine having to suffer through it twice in as little time as you've had to deal. I, too, just lost my beloved 13 yr old Dal, Dom, two months ago to renal failure. It's one of the most heartbreaking experiences I've ever faced. Our pets are truly members of our families and are such loyal, unconditional, loving creatures. You will be in my thoughts and prayers and I'll say a prayer for Astro and Kona as they meet at "the bridge". At least there is no more suffering for them and we can take what comfort we can in knowing we did what was right. It's the least we can do for them in return for all they do for us.

Hugs,
Monica

As a pet owner I know exactly how you feel and what you are going through. We had to put our lab down several years ago, I was away at the academy and could not be there. I still miss him, but I still have the memories of all the goofy stuff he did and his morning routine with the kids. As you know you can never replace a pet, we now have a german shepherd, he's laying down by me as I'm typing this. I wish there was something I could say to help you feel better during this difficult time.

I'm so terribly sorry for what you had to go through with Astro, and with Kona, as well. I've lost every pet I've ever had, which is why I am out of the pet business. I couldn't stand the heartache any longer. ;-0

I hope you can find solace in another pet, if you so choose, but your memories of Kona and Astro will last you forever and a day.

Love and hugs,
Ken

to see just how much like a family we really are. When someone is hurting, we all hurt. When someone rejoices we all rejoice. Judy, one day when you are emotionally able... please tell us your favorite story about Astro. I for one, would like to hear how she had affected you as a person. So when the time is right for you, feel free to bless us with that. We are still listening. Peace and understanding...

Sorry to learn of your loss....my best wishes and deepest sympathy to you.

Judy,
Never forget all the good times you had with your best friend. All dogs do go to heaven, but from reading your post I get the feeling that both of your's already experienced heaven by living with you.

my thoughts are with you,

joe

Judy,

My thoughts are with you. I am sorry for your loss.

Bless you for having the strength to stay with Astro until the end. I held my sheepdog, Abbey, while she passed. The vet suggested I just leave her there! (Apparently that's quite common.)

I hope before too long you will be able to leave the sadness of your loss behind you, and be comforted by the memories of the happiness you shared with Kona and Astro.

to describe the feelings i get from reading these posts. :)

i will write more this weekend.

thank you, pete, thank you, everyone.
