Congrats on getting certified! I got certified when I was 14 and love every minute of it. Been 22 years since class but I do remeber it was not very difficult if you read and study and pay close attention. Good luck..

The tests are not hard, and for a young person like yourself that's used to doing homework it should be a breeze. The real fun is when you do the pool excercises and the open water dives. It's going to be a great time. Just do what they tell you and what you learn, like NEVER holding your breath, etc...

Good Luck, and let us know when you get done.

it'll be fun; you'll have a blast

basically, you will have classroom sessions to cover material. then you'll practice
your skills in a pool.

then, you'll use those skills in four open water dives.

depending on the class, this can be done over a four-week period or down to a single
weekend, or somewhere in between.

generally, i would recommend the longer classes. gives you more time to absorb
stuff, more time to cover stuff, and you're not in such a rush.

Reading the book before class is very good but there's no need to know everything before class - that's why you're taking class after all. And there's no reason to try and look like you know your stuff when you don't - you'll learn more and actually get more respect from people if you don't do that. People that don't know what they're doing and ask questions look smart. People that don't know what they're doing but try to act like they do, it's obvious to others and they just look silly.)

Have fun!

What Damsel just said.

If you want a description of what a certification class is like, you can read the journal I wrote of mine (see link below).

Have a great time with it -- diving is marvellous fun.

Welcome to a life long thrill! Now rember, when you come up and take your mask off, wipe the snot off of your face esp if there are girls around, it will be there. Good luck and enjoy!
