sometimes it pays to be old, fat, & out of shape......glad I am...lol.....

Did you check for gills???

This guy is not the case!,

well I don't dive everyday but I do frequently and is hard to me to say no to that
maybe if you red the post again you will see he wasn't a good diver or buddy...his only "skill" was the SAC

You did make it about the GUY. And guys like him. out of shape lacking skills and the proper mind set and or training that you adhere to.

Your stunned that someone that large or that much out of shape, that much more different than you, is actually better than you. His SAC rate is far superior than yours and you shutter the thought that since he has not done any DIR training that it is wrong to have such a low SAC rate. That is where the DIR arrogance comes in to play. Sad but so true. Guys like that may not follow the same principles as DIR..so what. He is diving for himself. If he was your buddy..then I would understand your concern. I would be concerned.

Your made the assumption and turned it into and elitist statement.

If you were so shocked about his SAC rate, why did you not ask the man yourself. i am sure he would have been more than happy to share his knowledge with you over a few beers.

DIR is about sharing knowledge. Not dictating it.

Safe dives.

A little too much coffee this morning??

Maybe so, Randy, but the points he brings up are valid and why GUE and DIR will never go mainstream. There is no doubt that there are thousands of of ill-trained divers churned out each and every year, across the board. Who is to blame? The agency? The instructor? The aspiring diver? Obviously there are enough people out there who aren't killing themselves diving that it is still considered one of the safest sports out there. If we started having an epidemic, then I could see cause for alarm.

Should this gentleman be in better shape? Probably, but diving has nothing to do with it, he should want to because he wants to live a healthier life, and if his diving is bettered because of it, then it is a bonus.

Not only that, but the OP's observations were incomplete and speculative at best. The last thing any GUE diver needs to be doing is going around on a crusade trying to figure stuff like that out. If he was inquisitive, he should have politely asked. Chances are, the old salt would have loved to impart some wisdom.

The message has gotten so convoluted it isn't even funny. JJ and GI3 themselves have said 'don't get wrapped up in the petty stuff' (paraphrased), but I don't think enough people are listening. :no

Absolutely!

Too cheap and soon to say that

if there are a bunch of great non DIR divers out there!! Glad to know it! hope that!!
unfortunately I haven't seen them too often

but anyway I will like to point the discussion on to what it is my primary concern... How is possible that SAC doing all the things he did (DIR or not)?? and I did asked him but he just said it was normal to him and he had made much better profiles

I hope that is in jest.

I was typing on my iPhone, and in the interest of fewer keystrokes, I sometimes don't flesh out a statement completely.

What I meant to say was that no GUE diver should be alienating potential divers to the cause by going on personal crusades by interrogating every diver that isn't conforming to the DIR mindset.

If that is doing-it-wrong, then maybe I need to rethink my affiliation.
