That is a nice fat looking reel in that pic. Mine only holds 70ft or so. Anyone know where to get the fat boys?

If you're looking for a good wreck reel then check out the big Lola reels. The ones we were using in the Czech republic hold about 200 metres of double core woven nylon line (same principle as mountain climbing rope--a little thicker than #36 line). If you put #24 line on it you could probably get 400 metres of line on it. It's designed to be neutral under water and it's easy to handle with drygloves. Side view it's about the size of a dinner plate.

How do you attach the line to the bag or SMB? Do you use a clip or Ring or ??

In the end of the line there is about a 6" loop and you run it through the ring of the lift bag or SMB

Stupid question.....but I am not above that.

Why wouldn't you use a single ended clip there also? Why would you want to use a loop in the line and try and feed it through when a already tied off single ended clip would be so much easier?

When the spool is wound up all the way you put the double ender throught the end of the loop and through the hole in the side of the spool to hold the line tight in place. and use the other end to clip it off to the rear D ring on the crotch strap. The big loop is easy to run through. The reason is you want the spool to stay neutral boyant as you try to attach the lift bag. If you have the single ended clip attached it will cause the lift bag go negative after it is attached and make it hard to fill

I was looking for a tangle free safety reel, more like 50 metres. But thanks for the tip.
