US man dies while scuba diving off Bahamas - Taiwan News Online
A 52-year-old Illinois man has died while scuba diving along a coral reef in the central Bahamas.

A police statement Monday identified the dead tourist as David Gasinski. His hometown was not disclosed.

Police say witnesses reported the man's body was found floating face-down during an organized dive with his wife and two other tourists off Blanket Sound in Andros.

Dive organizers pulled Gasinski from the water and performed CPR, but were unable to revive him. He was pronounced dead shortly after.

An autopsy is being performed to determine the cause of death.

It was not known if Gasinski was an experienced diver.

Dandy Don,

Please keep me updated on any info you can find out on this- I work with a guy who grew up with Kazoo (David). My coworker knew I was a diver and trolled the blogs so he had asked me if I had heard about it.
Thanks, Erika

"Kazoo"...?

We're not likely to learn any more really; I saw it on a google alert. The infamous and questionable CDNN site even reported on it but did not suggest anything amiss. For reputable sources, there's really nothing more than what's already above that I can find.

Here is his obituary. DAVID M. GASINSKI Obituary: View DAVID GASINSKI's Obituary by Chicago Suburban Daily Herald

It seems he was an attorney in Itasca.

Erika,
I am a friend of the family. Cause of drowning is still not known as autopsy results are not back. It is not suspected to be an accident directly related to diving, rather a sudden medical issue, but again, not yet confirmed until examiner's report.
It is truly a very sad day today as services begin this evening.

Leyla,
Thanks for your information. Also, thanks for joining the board to update David's friend. I know he appreciates it, that was very kind of you. I am thinking of you and the family.

Thanks, Erika
