Ikelite Super-Lite Rechargeable parts

I have an old Ikelite Super-Lite rechargeable, model number #1085 I believe. It doesn't work now, and I spoke with Ikelite about repairs. They said they could repair it, so I sent it to them. Four months later I get an email saying they did not have the parts, and charged me $25 for the analysis and to return the light.

I would like to get parts for it - does anyone have any ideas?? Also, if I can't get parts, I need to replace. Their newer, comparable model is the Super-8 RCD Lite. Could someone tell me how it compares to other, similar brands? If I have to spend the money for a new one, is their an even better alternative than these?

Report by "backinthewater" is distrubing because Ikelite does NOT charge for any repair analysis, and we do not need four months to respond. Could this have been sent through a dealer who let it sit around before forwarding to us, and then added a service charge for packing and shipping? Ikelite does not sell products direct, but does encourage sending repairs directly to us. I would like to know more about this if you want to e-mail me: ike@ikelite.com
