I just got my Ikelite housing and my Oly SP-350 housing and now I see why it costs so much. It really looks tough. I had never touched any underwater cameras before but I am used to working with underwater electronic housings so it wasnt to bad to setup. I'm busy at work today but I have managed to take a couple pics of the Guarabara Bay in Rio this morning with the camera.

well i haven't tested mine yet u/w except in the pool. Now u should think about whether to buy one or 2 ikelite strobe. people recommend at least DS125. remember that housing can b brought down all the way to 60 meters. i am sure u will enjoy it. So how many sp350 u bought?

Hi Crawl!Congrats on your housing... i got my Ikelite housing this afternoon. Nice! However, I noticed when I mounted the cam, the shutter release lever cant reach the shutter release button and the Zoom lever cant reach the zoom button. How can I fix this problem?

Pinnay, i didn't have this problem. all u need to do is screw the camera properly!! it needs only a slight touch. don't forget u can those buttons u can pull or push them in to touch the camera

Hi Sunkarm, you're right! I just had to screw the cam on th mount. Now all i have to do is take it with me diving:D

Pinay Diver, you're either not getting the camera seated all the way or onto the mounting plate correctly. Their was an earlier thread several months ago from someone who had the same issue. In the Oly housing it's possible to have the camera cocked and still close the housing. In the Ikelite, you have to have it seated properly on the mount as well.

I had the same problem with the levers not reaching. I was too scared to overtighten since I saw the threads were plastic on the camera. I wanted to cry because I knew it was going to be another month and a half before I could get someone to carry mine to the US and get me another one, I got the nerve to tighten more and it works perfect. So far just reading the whole manual for the camera and taking shots, now I'm trying to figure out what my mode settings I want to use, while waiting for the 28th when I get off this boat and go do some diving. I'll probably just get to dive in Rio for the first few weeks, very green water there but I'm excited for some UW pics.

Anyone know what thread had some of mymode settings that worked well? I know I saw this somewhere but not sure where and have been searching for hours instead of playing with my camera.

Anyone made a homemade lanyard for the Ikelite housing. I trying to think of a good lanyard setup since this housing does not have a safety lanyard attached.
Oh, Sunkarm I havent gotten a spare yet but I definetly will I am hoping to get one at a local costco as some still have them on shelf when I go back to the states in February. I think I want one not only for a spare but as a topside camera. I don't see myself using my UW camera while out on the town for fear of losing it and not having one to dive with.

i think oly sp350 is also excellent to b used topside.
I wish i can post picture onto this thread but don't know how unless i have url adress

i never use lanyard attaching my bcd onto the camera. i use those expensive but strong rectractor, i think it's called "Hammer". so when u r not taking shots it wind back onto your BC. However i haven't tried yet with the ikelite's housing . if not strong enough i will use 2 retractors. by the way, have u decided how many strobes of ds125 to b used?
