I'm purchasing a Canon HF S10 and am looking at housings. Have it narrowed down to the Ikelite or Equinox. Anyone have any recommendation (pros/cons) between the two?

Thanks.

I am an Ikelite user and fan. I like the size, and weight (only 10lbs out of water).
I also like that it is clear and you can see the LCD screen without needing a monitor. The weight doesn't matter so much if you are in the water without having to carry it very far. But if you have to carry any distance, or trying to do shore dives in places like Bonaire, it can seem like an anchor. Keep that in mind.

I like the Ikelite as:
The camera's LCD viewing screen can be seen directly through the housing back. Rear controls provide access to the camera's joystick menu-driven functions including custom white balance.
You'll find that will be extraordinarily useful to be able to do so.

Afaik, you can't do that with the Equinox. Also you'd likely want a back mounted monitor which adds about $300 to the price. All you give up with Ikelite is 50' of depth rating: 200' vs. 250'.

To Robin's point, the HFS10/Ikelite combo weighs 8 lbs. The Equinox 12-16 lbs. I carry-on my camera/housing when I travel so that's a significant difference.

Thanks! I was leaning toward the Ikelite and your additional thoughts/recommendations helped confirm my decision.
