If you could design a new regualtor what sort of features and performance characteristics would you expect from it? First and second stage components.:upset:

Nice wide exhaust tee on the second stage. Everything else could be any combination of the ScubaPro MK20, the Apex TX100, and the Beuchat VX10.

Now that air-integrated computers have shown us the way, why shouldn't the next great leap forward be hoseless regs?

:jester:

Ok metridium if you think so. But do the rest of you really think?

Ok metridium if you think so. But do the rest of you really think?

I try not to think, it is highly overrated.

Hi guys,

Let me in please..............need 2 dream of a Star Trek reg.

01. It must be very light, minimum like UL600 Scubapro for the first stage, perhaps less. No aluminum please, Titanium also no-no.......just some fancy year 2020 polymer.

02. All hoses super soft, high flow, transparent so I can see if any mould grow in it :out: . Simply no drag of a hoses.

03. Second stage. Smallest possible smaller than Micra. Exhaust bubbles to be the shape of a fish aquarium bubble machine with those rock filters, super small micro bubbles.......resistance ??? ......let the designer worry. I think less noise and obstruction this way.

04. No hoseless gauge, not reliable. As small as Scubapro mini mechanical console plus a back up special ear-bone placed speaker that warns you (without annoying beeps to frighten fishes ) of too fast ascent and tank pressure every 500 psi decrease.....in a sweet lady voice. The warning audio sequence as follows :

2500-3000 psi :
" Honey, ur dive shop didn't cheat u of air, now u have 2,800 psi of air...safe diving "

2500 psi :
Keep on sucking that reg Honey, still plenty of air "

2000 psi :
"Honey, u got almost half air now"

1500 psi :
" Honey, now it is realy only half"

1000 psi
" Honey, u better get ur ass out of here, my calculation tells me that at this depth and nitrogen level u should be ascending to 30 feet "

500 psi
" Honey, almost empty at 500 psi "

300 psi but at 60 feet
" Yo Moron, did u sign the liability release with my manufacturer ?"

200 psi at 60 feet and still requiring 20 min deco at 15 feet
" Look Pal, you will need a wheelchair after this dive !!! "

05. An interface port from 1st stage for HUD mask compatible that shows depth, air pressure and magnetic bearing and dive computer data. So mask only need a display unit no CPU.

06. A special computer at first stage that can decide that a dive
is done an diver need to be pick up. It will emit a special radio signal to dive boat upon surfacing complete with diver name and GPS position. Of course the boat will need a compatible receiver.....hell this is a dream reg isn't it... he he he:D :D

07. A special 406 Mhz EPIRB panic button just in case this diver realy lost at sea or dive boat broke down and can't pick up....so let SARSAT do their job.

08. Oops, almost forgot. It must outbreath UL600 Or Apex 200 by a wide margin, don't stop working in any position ( Dacor Vitec problem ? ). Can I have Cherry flavoured air injection system while at it ?

09. Is there anyway to re-design the mouth piece so that we reg breathers don't look funy with ultra wide lips on photo while sucking a first stage ??

Ha ha ha ha

Kind regards,
IYA
