Actually no, a blown hi pressure hose will not empty faster. If you look in the reg you will see that there is a tiny orifice to restrict the flow in such an event.

Which of course is why many CMAS courses teach you to cut the HP hose with your knife as a last resort to get air. :eyebrow:
 
This would only be true for upstream regulators, such as the Posiedens. Most modern regulators are downstream and will fail by venting gas.
